Our goal was to compile an updated list of every web design school in the US. We felt the existing web design school lists were not comprehensive, easy to find, and many web sites have outdated information and links. We believe we have built a useful resource for web design students and would simply like to ask that you take a look and link to us if you agree. All the web design schools are listed on the front page and lead directly to each program, additionally they are sorted by state. Read full post »
Common Web Development Mistakes
Posted on May 15, 2010 in Blog, Usability, SEO, Web Development- Using graphics for simply formatted text
-
Why do you try to cut the search engines attempt to crawl your site? Do not use graphics for text formatted with fonts that exist on any computer. You will save the download speed, place on the server and good image among your colleagues. Neither use JPGs for text – they create a “dirty” halo around the letters.
- Bad content organization
-
When there is a lot of content on your website, it should be well organized. Visitors read from left to right, and the further they move into the site, the less visitors stay with you if you do not make it easy for them to read.
The rule is: if you think that some copy is important, put it in the beginning, where everyone can see it, don’t make your visitors to scroll and dig for the important message you want to pass them.
- Using more than 2 different types of fonts in one design
-
The only exception when the 3rd font type is used in the logo.

Posted on January 14, 2010 in Usability, SEO, Web Design, Website Analysis
My site has been getting top page positioning from all of the search engines. I also have ads running in key industry portals. I get plenty of impressions. I even get a very nice click through rate. I cannot seem to get anyone to actually subscribe. My product is very specialized. You have to enter a search for exactly what we offer in order to find my site. In other words you wouldn’t end up there by mistake. Keep in mind that the site is selling calculations to accountants so I can’t get too gimiky. I am at a loss I obviously thought I did it all the right way. Do you know where I went wrong?
